Engineers Australia members acknowledged in King’s Birthday Honours List

A group of remarkable engineers have been recognised for their contributions in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours List.

Engineers Australia members are recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday 2024 Honours List announced this week by Governor-General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd).

The honours and awards bestowed on 737 Australians include the Order of Australia (General and Military Divisions), meritorious awards and recognition for conspicuous service.  

They highlight the remarkable service and contributions of Australian citizens across a diverse spectrum of fields and service to the community.

Members who were recognised in the 2024 King’s Honours include: 

  • Elivio Bonollo MIEAust as a Member of the Order of Australia, for significant service to tertiary education, particularly industrial design research and development
  • Peter Rossdeutscher CompIEAust as a Member of the Order of Australia, for significant service to business, to digital inclusion and to the innovation and technology commercialisation sectors
  • Harinder Kaur MIEAust, with a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community through social welfare organisations
  • Roger Charles Wilkinson MIEAust CPEng(Ret), with a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community and to acoustic engineering
  • Sabaratnam Prathapan FIEAust CPEng, with a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to tertiary education, and to the community
  • Raymond Sputore MIEAust as a Member of the Order of Australia, for significant service to business and to the construction industry

Bettering society

Engineers Australia National President Dr Raj Aseervatham FIEAust CPEng said the King’s Honours reflect the enormous contribution engineers make to the nation’s prosperity and wellbeing. 

“It is with great pride that we celebrate this well-deserved recognition of our members,” he said. “Their achievements and innovations have made a positive and impactful difference for the betterment of society.”

Engineers Australia CEO Romilly Madew AO FTSE HonFIEAust EngExec said the honours highlight the important role engineers play in making life happen.  

“We congratulate each of our members for their well-deserved recognition through these honours,” she said. “Their achievements shine an important spotlight on the engineering profession and its vital contribution to so many crucial facets of our world.”
