WATCH: Why engineering is looking for its ‘Matildas moment’

“Nothing would make me happier than a ‘Matildas moment’ for engineering.”

At a recent day-long symposium, Engineers Australia’s Chief Engineer Jane MacMaster FIEAust CPEng EngExec NER joined other industry leaders to discuss the state of Australia’s engineering workforce crisis.

As part of the introductory panel discussion, MacMaster explored public perception of engineering — and how to improve it — alongside Mark Bazzacco, Chief of Research Technology and Operations at Defence Science and Technology Group; Megan Lilly, Head of Education and Training at Ai Group; and Professor Mark Hoffman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President at the University of Newcastle.

The event was co-hosted by Engineers Australia and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE)’s New South Wales Division.
