Global Day of the Engineer is about celebrating the accomplishments of engineers past, present and future.
From everyday objects like computers and cars to massive feats like skyscrapers and rockets, from global networks like wifi and GPS to essential services like water and electricity, engineers have helped build the world around us. Global Day of the Engineer, held this year on 3 April, is a chance to highlight these many accomplishments.
People are being encouraged to take to social media to flood the web with images and stories of engineers who are making a difference, using the #GlobalEngineer and #ThankAnEngineer hashtags.
According to DiscoverE, an organisation that promotes engineering outreach, the day is about “uniting engineers everywhere in recognising and celebrating what engineers everywhere have in common – making the world a better place”.
With that in mind, we’re asking you to help us #ThankAnEngineer on Global Day of the Engineer. Working on a cool project? Know an engineer who deserves a shout out? Want to recognise an unsung engineering hero of the past, or praise a rising star?
