Many of us remember the time in our childhood when we realised our passion for engineering. It could be seeing an amazing piece of technology, or the eureka moment of building something yourself for the first time.

We asked our community to think back to the moment they realised they were an engineer. The responses we received show the amazing range of careers that are available to engineers, and the incredible moments of inspiration that can spark a lifetime passion.

Great story and loved to 12 “I knew I was an engineer when I ….”. Made me think back to my early childhood days building dams at the beach where the rivers ran out to sea.

When as a teenager I saw my father on a farm on the central coast of NSW construct the sheds and concrete floors to house the pigs, which also had access to adjacent paddocks.
