That efficiency is only increasing, with recent product upgrades. Internal research has found MIDAS CIVIL NX, the latest evolution of the company’s bridge analysis and design software, outperforms the previous generation, MIDAS CIVIL, by up to 4.5 times across typical tasks, even when used by experienced engineers.
This significant increase in efficiency is driven by a host of user-focused enhancements, including:
- Instant error zooming from the message window (up to 50% faster).
- API-based task automation and a plugin marketplace (up to 40% gain).
- Excel compatibility for load combinations (up to 20% improvement).
- Integrated parametric modelling via direct connections to Grasshopper/Dynamo.
Meanwhile, MIDAS IT has also recently launched the MIDAS Python API Library, a simplified Python wrapper on GitHub designed for engineers of all skill levels. This tool enables engineers to automate routine workflows, create parametric simulations, and build custom plug-ins for team productivity.

MIDAS IT Structural Engineer Pranav Vaishampayan said Crown Sydney was a particularly notable project for MIDAS IT.
“MIDAS GEN NX software was used in that project for column shortening analysis,” he said. “It is the tallest structure in Sydney, which means that kind of analysis is of the utmost importance.”
Kim said that MIDAS IT software is used also in Sydney for a number of projects constructed around heritage buildings.
“A recent client used MIDAS GTS NX to assess the impact of an excavation on a heritage structure,” he said.

Kim said that MIDAS IT software is used also in Sydney for a number of projects constructed around heritage buildings.
“A recent client used MIDAS GTS NX to assess the impact of an excavation on a heritage structure,” he said.
“In addition, seismic assessment is needed for all high rises and other important structures. We are at the forefront of seismic analysis, assessment and design.”
And the impact is not confined to Australia. Vaishampayan highlights the contribution MIDAS IT’s bridge design software is making to Auckland’s Wēiti River Bridge project.
“It’s New Zealand’s first extradosed bridge [combining elements of a prestressed box girder bridge and a cable-stayed bridge] and consultancies Aurecon and RoadLab working together to deliver it,” he said.
Kim said MIDAS IT’s tools can play such a significant role in these projects because they provide a comprehensive and sophisticated platform that supports engineers from the beginning of a project through to execution, operation and structural maintenance.
