A new online tool is helping create a virtual community of engineers where the profession can come together to tap into members’ collective knowledge and forge connections.
The web has made it easier than ever to connect with peers, find new resources and get answers to questions on almost any topic under the sun.
Bringing these functions together in one place for Australia’s engineering profession is the aim of a new online platform launched last week by Engineers Australia.
EA Xchange, available to Engineers Australia members and volunteers, is designed to make it easy for engineers around the country to connect with others in their field, exchange ideas and share relevant resources.
“EA Xchange was launched to facilitate networking and communication between our members in a safe and secure online environment,” said Engineers Australia National Manager — Marketing, Adelina La Vita.
Collaboration between engineers of all ages, disciplines, industries, levels of experience and locations is a main driver behind the platform’s launch, she added. Bringing engineers together in one place also makes it easier to facilitate important conversations on topics affecting the profession.
“EA Xchange was built to enable member connections and collaborations, provide a platform to share resources, advice and ideas, and allow our members to ask questions and access subject-matter experts in one location,” La Vita said.
The links run in many directions as well. La Vita said she hopes this new platform will help Engineers Australia keep its finger on the pulse of what’s important to engineers.
“EA Xchange plays a significant role in allowing Engineers Australia to connect with our members and seek feedback and contributions to policy development,” she said.
“We have already seen great input from our members.”
